GHRP-2, also known by its INN name pralmorelin, is a synthetic hexapeptide — a chain of six amino acids. Its sequence is D-Ala-D-2-Nal-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, where “D-2-Nal” refers to D-2-naphthylalanine, an unnatural amino acid. The molecular formula is C₄₅H₅₅N₉O₆, and its molecular weight is 817.99 g/mol. It carries a CAS registry number of 158861-67-7. The peptide has an amidated C-terminus (the -NH2 at the end), which distinguishes it from peptides that end in a free carboxyl group.

GHRP-2 was developed in the early 1990s as part of a series of synthetic growth hormone releasing peptides. It was among the first compounds classified as a growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R) ligand, a receptor later found to be the same one associated with ghrelin, the stomach-derived hormone discovered in 1999.
