Epithalon (also spelled Epitalon or Epithalone) is a synthetic tetrapeptide — a chain of four amino acids — with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly. Its molecular formula is C₁₄H₂₂N₄O₉, with a molecular weight of 390.34 g/mol (CAS 307297-39-8). It was first synthesized in the 1990s, based on the amino acid composition of epithalamin, a peptide extract derived from the bovine pineal gland.

As a tetrapeptide, Epithalon is one of the smallest biologically studied peptides. Its four-residue sequence — alanine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, and glycine — gives it two acidic side chains, making the molecule negatively charged at physiological pH. It dissolves readily in water and appears as a white lyophilized powder in its research-grade form.
